Woven and Braided Fun

Woven Goods

For a change of pace from the leatherworking, we make woven and braided pieces. Weaving is usually done on an inkle loom (see definitions), the braiding is Kumihimo, a Japanese art done on a stand using weighted bobbins.

Woven pieces are usually 2 1/2-3 yards long, generally from cotton in a range of weights and colors. The lengths of kumihimo braids are more variable - as are the widths.Prices are generally in the range of $15 to $30 depending on the complexity of the design and width/thickness of the piece. The smaller, lighter pieces, such as the two on the left, are suitable for trim, while the heavier, such as the blue and red and the blue and whit with the twist, can be used as belts. We make these for fun, so it's hard to predict what we'll have on hand on any time. Please contact us for further information.
